Probation and Aftercare Services
The probation program was conducted to bring minor offenders, first offenders and children involved in law contact or in conflict with the law into the society in the interest of justice to make them accustomed to normal life. According to the Probation of Offenders Ordinance 1, the Department of Social Services conducts probation and aftercare activities in accordance with the Special Conduct for Women Detained in Prisons Act 20 and Children Act 20. In addition, there is a Task Force program aimed at the release of detained children, including probation and aftercare activities. Aftercare programs are conducted to re-integrate the concerned community into the society to provide special benefits to the women freed from jail or at the end of admission or imprisoned.
What is probation?
Probation refers to giving an offender the opportunity to adapt to society without postponing, imprisoning or confining him to an institution. Correction of crime committed by the probation officer under the supervision of a probation officer and in his family and social environment, in the case of the first and minor offense in the probation system and the children and adolescents who come into contact with the law or any other adult person in jail or any other institution for the first and minor offense. He was given the opportunity to integrate socially.
Probation is an informal and social reform program. It is a well-controlled action mechanism to correct a criminal's disorderly and unlawful behavior. Here the criminal is helped to prevent recidivism and to grow as a law-abiding citizen.
Under the Probation of Offenders Ordinance 1960, (as amended at 1964), the court may grant probation for 1 (one) to 3 (three) years subject to the condition of the juvenile juvenile or adult person involved in the first and minor offense. However, this legal benefit is a priority for children.
Under the Children Act 20, adolescents are allowed access to the courts through the juvenile court.
Under the above two laws, probation officers of the Directorate of Social Services are tasked to assist wise judges, to see if the terms and conditions of the court are being complied with, and to conduct supervision and correctional activities.
